INDEPENDENT INVESTIGATION INTO ROGER VELLA, JR'S
ALLEGATIONS PRODUCES TWO ADDITIONAL GOVERNMENT WITNESSES
The jarring revelations of "Cadillac Frank" Salemme's perjury and the possible complicity of Boston Asst U.S. Atty's in it, as cited in Roger Vella, Jr.'s explosive FBI report, was disclosed to Attorney General, John Ashcroft; Deputy Attorney General, James Comey; Christopher Wray, Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Division; John Richer, Chief of Staff, Criminal Division; and, John C. Keeney, Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Criminal Division of Dept of Justice. It was their deicison to assign the matter to Patrick Fitzgerald, U.S. Attorney for the Norther District of Illinois.
This independent review of the facts and circumstances relating to the information relfected in the FBI report of Roger Vella, Jr., did not bode well for either Frank Salemme or John Connolly's prosecutors. Rather than undermine the allegations made in the FBI report of Roger Vella, Jr., the exact opposite occured. U.S. Attorney, Patrick Fitzgerald's investigation, not only corroborated Roger Vella's assertions on many material issues, but his investigation produced two (2) additional government witnesses who furnished additional "newly discovered evidence" of their own!
Both of these government witnesses has been incarcerated in the "WITSEC Unit" with Frank Salemme and, as such, their veracity had been vouched for by the Department of Justice and they had cooperated with the government and testified against their La Cosa Nostra cohorts. These two government witnesses are identified in the reports only as "Individual," and "CS" for "Confidential Source."
